How long is a day?

When in Haiti although it takes so long to get something done like buy a screw to fix a  door. This could be a 3 hour process or more. Time moves at a much slower pace. Somehow the day has more hours. Back at home in Iowa the day runs away with a quickness that although I can buy a screw in 20 minutes, at the end of the day the TO DO List for LOVE Takes Root is still long and not complete. Saying good bye is always difficult. The connections felt so strong by both visitors and children. The lack of distraction makes feeling so deeply happen that much faster. The stark difference from the visit we have experienced and the life that we live back home. The abundance. The excess. The stress. How do you piece this together in your soul. Varnishing Teeth!

We had a late but wonderful night last night. We helped to get everyone ready for bed, brush teeth and line up to Varnish their teeth. Some where very timid and unsure but everyone cooperated. We ended up  tucking everyone into bed and laughing for many hours. The boys were trying to scare us with pretend spiders. Boys are boys no matter where you put them.  Some children do cry themselves to sleep and this was hard for the nurses hearts. We tired and hot returned to the hotel at 11 pm and everyone fell into bed and slept well.
